Near the end of life, families often want to mark what is happening: to say goodbye, to give thanks, to bless the person they love. A bedside blessing gives that moment shape.
Chris has served as a hospice, ICU, and pediatric chaplain. We come to the bedside, follow the family's lead, and offer prayers, readings, songs, or simple rituals that fit your loved one and your family.
From first hello to the day itself.
- 1
Reach out
Call or write. If time is short, mark it URGENT.
- 2
A few questions
We learn about your loved one, your family, and what feels right.
- 3
The blessing
A gentle gathering at the bedside, usually 20 to 40 minutes.
- 4
Afterward
We stay as long as needed, and check in with the family later.
Ways we can shape it
- Prayers and readings from your tradition, or none
- Anointing or laying on of hands if that is part of your faith
- Words of thanks, forgiveness, and goodbye
- Music or singing
- Children included in gentle, honest ways
Practical details
- We work alongside hospice and hospital teams, never in place of them.
- Available at home, in facilities, and in hospitals.
- We also serve families in pediatrics and the NICU.
Is this last rites?
It can include prayers from your tradition. For sacraments that require your own clergy, we are glad to help you reach them.
What if my loved one cannot respond?
Hearing may remain late in life. We speak to them, not about them.
